Our Story

Our unique concept was inspired by our owners' butcher shop in Israel, named Doris, and their admiration for unprecedented fine dining. After a vacation turned into a love affair with Costa Rica in 2010, they incorporated the city's vibrant metropolitan way of life and born was Doris Metropolitan.

The group found their next venture in the form of New Orleans in 2013. The city's rich culture and bustling tourism - paired with the French Quarter's appetite for adventure - made it the perfect second location. Shortly after, the trio was on the hunt for a third location, and with strong family and business ties, Houston seemed like a natural fit. The River Oaks post opened in 2017.

Our attention to detail and "teamwork makes the dream work" mentality sets us apart from traditional steakhouses. Our French Quarter location boasts as a hideaway amongst the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood. Our courtyard will transport you to a romantic night out while our vibrant dining rooms will cater to your special occasions and business dinners. Our acclaimed bread service and high-quality meats are truly an experience of itself. It wouldn’t be New Orleans without an extensive cocktail program, and one we are proud of. Our beverage selection honors traditional classics and explores innovative approaches. From selective wines to the finest liquors, our extensive list will give you a longing for adventure.

Sof Hospitality was founded in 2021 as we began to expand our restaurant umbrella and capitalize on our individual crafts in the industry. Today, Sof is the proud restaurant group of our three Israeli-inspired concepts: our high end butchery and specialty steakhouse Doris Metropolitan, our one-of-a-kind bakery with unique offerings only found in Houston, Bādolina Bakery & Café, and Hamsa, a modern-Isreali restaurant with an upbeat vibe.

Sof was created by Itai Ben Eli and Itamar Levy out of their desire to share Israeli culture and food with the rest of the world. Sof’s mission is to provide guests with an unparalleled dining experience rooted in unique flavor profiles and techniques from around the world.
